In the lead up to the event…
Promote, promote, promote!!! Tell everyone that you are attending – word of mouth is one of the best ways to share details about the event and is the most reported on our feedback and exit surveys!!! You may like to tell people face-to-face, share the details with your school or childcare centre and/or make updates to Facebook Garage Sale or special interest groups.
A week before the event, take ‘sneak peek’ photos of the items you will have for sale and post them to Facebook Garage Sale or special interest groups. Let people know that they are able to pick-up from the event. This helps you gain pre-sales with payment and pick up at the event. Make sure you provide the event details in your listing, for example:
Date: Sunday, 3rd of December 2017
Time: 10.30am – 2.30pm
Location: Campbelltown Civic Centre, 91 Queen Street, Campbelltown
Cost: $3 adult entry and kids entry is freeeeee!!!
Items you may like to bring with you…
- Tablecloth for your table
- A kitty of approximately $100 in change and small notes
- Plastic bags to provide to buyers who purchase items from you
- Lucky door prize or raffle item. If you make a donation, your name or business name will be included in a thank you email to our mailing list. The lucky door prize is free entry for guests, the raffle is for fundraising for a local charity, school or childcare centre
- Water and snacks. There will also be food available on the day to purchase.
On the day…Sunday, 3rd of December 2017
9.00am – Set up commences. Entry to the Civic Centre carpark is via Broughton Street, Campbelltown (see arrow on the map below). Park in the covered section near the ramp and find an event team member to assist you to find your table. BYO trolley, or use a shared trolley to bring your items into the venue.
In order to make sure the Civic Centre carpark is available for attendees, once you have unpacked your car, please move it to the carpark on the corner of Broughton and Queen Street or the large carpark on Broughton Street.
10.00am – Take photos and share to local Garage Sale groups or special interest groups on Facebook. Invite people to the event via Facebook channels!!!
10.30am – The event opens to guests!!! Prepare your smile, greet potential buyers and have a chat! Ask potential buyers if they are after something in particular. Let buyers know about the events happening on the day – details are below.
11.30am – Free face-painting commences at 11.30am. We have 60 vouchers for kids that will be available at the entry desk and handed out from 11.15am.
12.30pm – Whirlwind special guest appearance: meet and greet Santa – he is busy in December, so he will arrive at 12.30pm, but he has to get back to the North Pole and he is leaving at 1.15pm!!!
2.00pm – Lucky door prize and raffle will be drawn at 2.00pm. Entry for both adults and kids is free between 2.00pm – 2.30pm.
2.30pm – Pack down commences.
